I can’t show up the same anymore
Welcome to a whole new week business witch.Lately I’ve been focussed on re-centering My Why. And not the Simon Sinek ‘Start with the Why’ why. Though it is a great activity at grounding you deeper into consciously understanding your drivers if that’s what you’re looking for. For me, this season of life… …asks me to find what matters to me and choose it, and what doesn’t…and leave it. My Why is an honest and somewhat brutal laying bare of what I want as this newest version of Nikki. And while that is mostly impacting my life, it’s also definitely impacting my business too - because for a small business owner like us - it always does. And I’ve been noticing I can’t show up the same. I wanted to. I tried to. I demanded myself to. I really felt like I’d eventually ‘get over it’ and get back to the productive me that could work hard, over deliver and keep going. But finally I had to admit, it was just hurting, and definitely not helping. This might be showing up for you too if you’ve been resisting necessary changes in your business or finding you no longer have the time you once had for life admin, hobbies or friends and family. It might even be presenting itself as apathy or anger at your circumstances when once you prided yourself on your emotional stability and ability to bounce back. And it’s not a coincidence that so many of us are waking up at night questioning, “Why am I doing this to myself?” Business witches, the problem isn’t the work, the business, the challenges or your why. The real truth is that, Life can longer be sacrificed for business or success. And with that thought, if it stirred something in you like it did me, is the permission to do different. What wants to be in your life right now…and what’s ready to go? What feels good for your business currently…and what have you outgrown? Why do are you committed to continuing towards your goals…and are you courageous enough to admit if that’s no longer the case? I wish for this email to be a grounded approach to getting brutally honest. And a reminder that whatever you discover - you’re not alone in it. Life changes. Business evolves.
